Chemical & Petrochemical

Chemical and petrochemical systems can expose materials to acids, chlorides, solvents, oxidising media and cyclic operating conditions. NESCO supplies specified products after review of the customer-approved material and service requirements.

/ 01 — PIPING APPLICATIONS

Where the products are used.

Typical application areas are shown for enquiry planning. The approved design and project specification govern actual use.

01

Process transfer lines

02

Reactors and vessel connections

03

Heat exchangers

04

Storage and loading systems

05

Utility and effluent piping

06

Maintenance replacement packages

/ 02 — MATERIAL REQUIREMENTS

Define the service before the grade.

01

Process compatibility

The process licensor or materials engineer should approve the grade against concentration, contaminants and temperature.

02

Fabrication route

Welding procedure, heat treatment, pickling and passivation can influence the finished system.

03

Cleanliness

Surface finish, end protection and packing should reflect the process and contamination risk.

04

Documentation

MTC type, PMI, corrosion testing and inspection hold points should be defined in the purchase specification.

/ 03 — SUITABLE GRADES & PRODUCTS

A practical supply starting point.

These are commonly considered options, not a material-selection approval. Availability is confirmed against the complete specification.

/ 04 — TECHNICAL CONSIDERATIONS

Questions to resolve before purchase.

  1. 01

Do not select a grade from alloy name alone; review the complete process environment.

  2. 02

Specify whether intergranular, pitting or other supplementary corrosion testing is required.

  3. 03

Confirm allowable iron contamination and surface-finish requirements.

  4. 04

Align the product standard and fabrication condition with the approved equipment or piping specification.

/ TECHNICAL FAQS

Common buyer questions.

Is 316L suitable for every chemical service?+

No. 316L is widely used, but suitability depends on the chemical, concentration, temperature, contaminants, flow and fabrication condition.

Can higher alloys be supplied as a mixed product package?+

Subject to availability, NESCO can coordinate pipes, tubes, flat products, flanges, fittings and bars against one reviewed BOQ.

What information helps prevent a material mismatch?+

State the exact UNS or grade, product standard, dimensions, condition, testing, surface requirements and intended service in the purchase specification.

/ REQUEST A REVIEWED QUOTATION

Send the complete specification.

Upload your BOQ, material take-off or purchase specification. Our team will review grade, product form, dimensions, documentation and delivery requirements.
