This guide supports procurement discussion and does not replace the approved design code, materials-engineering review or project specification. Verify the current edition of every referenced standard.
Build an enquiry that can be compared
A strong RFQ allows every bidder to quote the same technical scope. Begin with an itemised BOQ and controlled specifications; separate commercial alternatives from technical compliance.
Each line should define product, grade, standard, dimensions, construction, ends, quantity and required condition. Attach project requirements for testing, documents, coating, marking, packing and delivery.
- Use one unit system consistently.
- Identify mandatory, optional and vendor-proposed items.
- Require a clear deviation list.
- Control document revisions and enquiry clarifications.
Evaluate total compliance, not only price
Compare manufacturer, origin, delivery, standards, editions, dimensions, testing and documentation. A lower line price may exclude inspection, packing or required supplementary tests.
Before order, resolve all exceptions and create an agreed document register and inspection plan. After release, verify markings, quantity, preservation and document completeness.
Information NESCO needs
Share the BOQ or material take-off, technical specification, project destination and required date. Where a field is unknown, identify it for clarification instead of allowing an uncontrolled assumption.

Common buyer questions.
What is the fastest way to obtain an accurate quote?+
Provide a clean BOQ with grade, standard, dimensions, quantity, testing, documents and destination, plus the required delivery date.
Should alternatives be accepted?+
Only through controlled technical review. Alternatives should be separately identified and never silently substituted.
Can a BOQ be uploaded to NESCO?+
Yes. The website enquiry form accepts common document formats for technical review, subject to its stated file limits.
